PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
To provide the oversight and support necessary to enable work-related skill training to prepare people for employment or meaningful activities.

30 pm Areas of General Responsibility:
The responsibility of a pre-vocational specialist is to foster and engage individuals through a person-centered approach.
To empower independence through proactive training and practical experiences while involved in integrated activities and volunteerism in community.
The community pre-Vocational specialist will be responsible in scheduling individualized community-based volunteer and job skill experiences, with goals derived from the person-centered plan.
Job Related Discovery Activities Responsible for supervising a group of 8 Community Base Pre-Vocational individuals as they participate in community-based work experiences & volunteer opportunities off site.
Ensure the group's weekly activities are adhered to, and that individuals exhibit appropriate social behavior during participation in the community.
Incorporate life skills, job skills, and travel skills during group and volunteer activities, while facilitating community integration.
Engage in person centered planning with the individual, create an environment to foster personal empowerment, attend to the individuals' personal care and needs as they arise, and assist the individual in the development of job skills.
Facilitate prevocational curriculum/classes to allow for opportunities to develop general, non-job task specific skills (e.
g.
time management, following directions, stress management, communicating effectively, the ability to attend to tasks.
Serve as the driver when taking individuals on a group outing in personal vehicle.
Contacts with families as directed by supervisor.
Coordination with other CMA program(s), and departments as assigned by supervisor.
Act as a role model to individuals by displaying appropriate work behavior.
Reporting/Documentation:
Responsible for documenting all services delivered at the time of delivery in an objective and professional manner.
Maintains a service delivery note on the participants' progress on formal goals.
Maintain progress notes when making collateral contacts/notifications.
Completes monthly status notes regarding service outcomes, progression and/or barriers pertaining to service provision.
Works with immediate supervisor, program participant and family member (as appropriate) to provide a continuous flow of pertinent information regarding the participants progress and status changes.
Completes annual evaluation to determine current employability skills.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED; AA preferred in Human services, psychology, or Sociology ID/DD experience preferred Must have a Valid NYS Drivers License Must have own transportation with Proof of Insurance and Registration Must be Computer Proficient Smartphone Required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
